When I first moved to Seattle, I came with a friend who had a job prospect and a place to stay at his dad's home in Kirkland. However, when we arrived we found that his dad had gone to Holland and had not left a key like he said he would, so we ended up on the street with little more than
bus fare. We didn't know anyone so we slept outside at the Public Library that night. The next day we found a park in the capitol hill area and we slept there. For the next few weeks I didn't eat often because I had to guard our spot and our stuff. We met a guy name Don and he said he would help us find storage for our stuff and a shelter. We ended up at the wall and since it was Sunday OPERATION: Sack Lunch was serving a hot meal. I was so weak and sick from lack of food that I passed out in the line. Some
angel from the servers brought me a plate of food. I know that
without food and help from OPERATION: Sack Lunch I might have died. I was able to get back on my feet and I now volunteer for them because of this belief. I am here today because they were here when I needed them.
